These are my official IPARENTING Award reviews.
What are the positive characteristics of this product?
My son absolutely loves this album. The music is catchy and has a few different rhythms throughout the tracks. Some of the tracks are new takes on familiar things like counting and alphabet, which are particular favorites for my family. Several of the lyrics are rather funny. Dustin’s voice is well-rounded and doesn’t feel irritating to listen to as a parent. It isn’t a typical children’s album with trite music and lyrics.
The positive characteristics of this product is that it is always referring back to how special each one of us are. It has a positive message for children. The music is catchy, the singing is good without being irritating and this is a cd that we will listen to for a long time.
The music on the Leftover Pancakes CD sounds energetic and upbeat, and my four-year-old daughter said she liked the way the songs sound. I like how the songs are about things my children are learning about or can relate to: healthy foods, numbers, ABCs, colors, trains, dancing, silly pets, and saying hello and goodbye. Our favorite songs on the CD is “Hello Hello (Good Morning)” and “There’s a Guy.”

Music for the car!

Need something to listen to on the way to school or on the way home? To keep the kids occupied here is a great Compilation by popular Los Angeles children’s music teacher, Dustin Type’s new CD, Dustin and the Leftover Pancakes is great fun. It has something for everyone (kind of like a good Saturday morning cartoon); catchy pop/rock tunes and clever lyrics that will keep both you and your children’s attention. My favorite song is one called ‘There’s a Guy’ which is a great take on learning about different colors. Check out Dustin’s web site at dustintype to sample the songs, order the cd and find out when he’ll be playing in your area.

Dustin Type, Dustin and the Leftover Pancakes
Uncluttered, VERY happy rock and roll songs from LA-based children’s music teacher Dustin Type. Lots of rip-roarin’ guitar solos from Glen West on songs about colors, numbers, letters, pets, trains, and food. One of the best lines comes from “The Number Song (Something Special)”: ‘The number 16 likes expensive jeans’. Type’s style (like a low-key Brady Rymer) and lyrical content makeLeftover Pancakes one of the few CDs aimed at preschoolers that really hits its target audience.
